About Aleksandra

Early Life

Aleksandra Svetlichnaya was born in Kharkov, Ukraine and later relocated to

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with her family. She is fluent in both English and Russian.

Aleksandra showed an interest for the creative arts at a remarkably young age. She

began taking art and dance classes before the age of seven and at ten started training

in martial arts. It was clear that she was meant to one day work in the entertainment

industry.

Having a strong mind for business as well, Aleksandra wanted to go to college and

attain a creative, yet practical degree. Within three years she earned, with Honors, a

Bachelor's of Science in Fashion Design, with a minor in Marketing and Business. She

then began working as a costume designer for large-scale entertainment attractions,

dancesport, theater and, eventually, independent films. That was where she found the

opportunity to professionally try something she had always wanted to do - acting.

Aleksandra appears in in lead and featured roles in a number of feature films and

Writing, and Producing, and Directing - oh my!

In the fall of 2014, Aleksandra founded SVET Studios and made her first foray into screenwriting, producing and directing with a short film titled "DINNER" (aka "DINNERMOVIE") in which she also starred in.

"DINNER" (2015) was selected as an Official Selection at CON Film Festival, Philadelphia Geek Awards Film Fest, Diamond in the Rough Cut (where it was also nominated for a Diamond Award), Ozark Shorts, Philadelphia Film Society's Philly Film Showcase, Indie Film Night, PopUp Anthology, Local Haunts, Night of Horror, ACME Screening Room and ScareLA. "DINNER" screened at Wizard World Philly 2015 and the following year in 2016, the cast and crew were invited guests at the con where they presented the film and discussed it during a live panel. J1-CON 2016 and Thy Geekdom Con 2016 also invited the "DINNER" team to present the film and appear on a panel. Watch "DINNER" HERE.

The film was reviewed extremely favorably by the popular horror website dreadcentral and various other publications. It was called "a delicious slice of genre filmmaking" by Geekadelphia and a "badass" "quirky action comedy" by PhillyVoice. James Bamford, Stunt Coordinator/Fight Designer/Director on ArrowThe Flash & DC's Legends of Tomorrow, called the movie "fun" and praised its' monster make up and effects.

"BREAKFAST" (aka "DINNERMOVIE2") - also written, produced, directed by and starring Aleksandra - held a premiere screening in Philadelphia in November 2016. The highly anticipated second installment in the "DINNER" universe racked up stellar reviews before going on to have a screening and panel at San Diego Comic Con 2017 - the mecca of all comic cons! The film then continued on the festival and convention circuits (including Official Selections at Diamond in the Rough Cut, Philadelphia Film Society's Philly Film Showcase, PopUp Anthology, Night of Horror, MystiCon and screening & panel at J1-CON 2017) before being available to the public. Watch "BREAKFAST" HERE.

"MIDNIGHT SNACK" (aka "DINNERMOVIE4") held a premiere screening in Philadelphia in May 2018. Following in the footsteps of the previous courses, this installment was exceptionally well received by fans and press alike. The film made the rounds on the festival circuit (including Official Selections at J1-CON 2018, Local Women in [Genre] Film and Night of Horror) before being available to the public in late 2018. Watch "MIDNIGHT SNACK" HERE

"HORS D'OEUVRE" (aka "DINNERMOVIE5") was filmed in October 2017, with additional footage being shot in October 2018. In a groundbreaking move, DINNERMOVIE5 features the talents of a 100% female cast and crew. The film was an Official Selection at Philadelphia Film Society's Philly Film Showcase, Wizard World Philadelphia 2019 and PopUp Anthology before being released to the public in late 2019. Watch "HORS D'OEUVRE" HERE.

"CRAVING" (aka "DINNERMOVIE6") held a premiere screening in Philadelphia in March 2020. It is currently making the rounds on the festival and comic con circuits. Public release date TBD.

Multiple new "DINNERMOVIEs" in the anthology series are currently in development.
